Privacy Policy — Browser Extension

This Privacy Policy applies to the Meteoflow Weather browser extension available for Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox ("the Extension"). It explains what data we collect, why we collect it, how it is used, and what controls you have over it.

The Extension displays current weather conditions, hourly and 10-day forecasts, air quality index, and geomagnetic activity for a location of your choice — directly in your browser toolbar. No account or registration is required to use the Extension.

The Extension requests only the permissions necessary for its functionality:

• storage — stores your selected location and display preferences (units, theme) locally on your device. No data is synced to external servers.
• geolocation (optional) — used only if you choose "Auto-detect my location". Your coordinates are sent to our weather API solely to retrieve the local forecast and are not stored on our servers.
• alarms — schedules periodic background refreshes of weather data (every 15 minutes by default). No network calls are made when the popup is closed unless background refresh is enabled by you.
• host permission for api.meteoflow.com — allows the Extension to fetch weather data from our API. No other domains are contacted.

• Location — a city name you type manually, or geographic coordinates obtained via the browser's Geolocation API (only when you explicitly enable auto-detection). Coordinates are used only for the API request and are not logged or retained on our servers.
• Preferences — unit system (°C / °F), language, and theme choice. Stored locally using the browser's storage API.

We explicitly do not collect or access:

• Browsing history or visited URLs
• Cookies or data from other websites
• Any form of personal identification (name, email, IP address)
• Keystrokes or clipboard content
• Data from other browser tabs or extensions

• To fetch and display weather forecasts relevant to your chosen location.
• To remember your location and display preferences between sessions.
• To periodically refresh weather data in the background (if enabled).

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the Extension.

We do not sell, trade, rent, or transfer your data to third parties. The only external communication the Extension makes is to api.meteoflow.com to retrieve weather data. No data is shared with advertisers, analytics services, or any other third party.

API requests include the location parameter (city name or coordinates) and a standard HTTP User-Agent header. No personally identifiable information is included in these requests.

All data (location and preferences) is stored locally on your device using the browser's storage API. You can delete this data at any time by:

• Removing the Extension from your browser.
• Clearing extension storage via your browser's extension settings page.
• Using the "Reset to defaults" option inside the Extension settings (if available).

No data is retained on our servers after you stop using the Extension.

Because the Extension does not transmit or store personally identifiable information on our servers, most GDPR / CCPA data subject rights (access, rectification, erasure) can be exercised directly by clearing the Extension's local storage as described above.

The Extension is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

The Extension communicates exclusively with api.meteoflow.com. Please refer to the full Meteoflow Privacy Policy for information on how our API handles requests.

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated revision date. Significant changes will also be noted in the Extension's changelog. Continued use of the Extension after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
